Sellwood, Oregon, Carrara and Bernardon Residence and Neighborhood.

At the time of this posting, the Black Cat Tavern is no longer around in Sellwood, Portland, Oregon at the intersection of SE Umatilla St., and SE 13th Ave.

This was George Albert Carrara's "watering hole" - where he would go enjoy a drink after work.  At the time he could take my mother, his youngest daughter, Arlene Francis Carrara with him to enjoy a Shirley Temple drink at the bar next to him.

Here is a webpage from the "Bee" newspaper regarding the tearing down of the Black Cat Tavern in 2013 and a bit of its history (Hopefully the link is intact after being posted as of the date of this entry).

This is the residence of George Albert and Juliette Bernardon Carrara at 1325 SE Sherrett Street, in Sellwood, Portland, Oregon.  Both photographs were taken circa 2012.

Multnomah Park Cemetery & Vera Lucille Millican Harrington

I went to Multnomah Park Cemetery today to find my Great-Aunt Vera Lucille Millican Harrington.  Only problem is I couldn't find Multnomah Park Cemetery anywhere online.

Multnomah Park Cemetery can be found online if you search for "Metro Pioneer Cemeteries" with a locality in Portland, Oregon.

A map of the cemetery can be found here: http://library.oregonmetro.gov/files//multnomah_park_map.pdf

I did find Vera Lucille Millican Harrington's grave at section 8-7 G.   The headstones from the 1930's aren't dated sometimes.  I suppose that's from the depression and all due to the cost of making a headstone.

Vera's find-a-grave memorial can be found here: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=47788989

She is buried right next to her brother Percy who is on her left.

A link to the cemetery can be found here: http://www.oregonmetro.gov/index.cfm/go/by.web/id=12692

Millicans in Portland Oregon

Here's some of the Millican's data I have here in Portland - beginning with a newspaper clipping from WWII.

Albert & Arlene's Headstones at Willamette National Cemetery

I discovered my grandmother died the day I photographed this, not the headstone is L3250.

This was Albert & Arlene's residence at 1552 SE Marion St in Portland Oregon

Here's a church over near Oaks Park in Portland Oregon where apparently my family had SOME business but I'm not certain what.

Saint Agatha's Catholic Church where Albert & Arlene and other Millicans were married

Last view of the USS Helena before she was sunk at Kuala Gulf - Grandpa Millican was topside for this one

Former residence of William Millican, father to Albert Millican at 7835 SE 13th - now a supermarket - formerly the back side of a laundry.

Raymond was Albert's Brother

Where they are buried at Willamette National

Ronald was Albert's younger brother - as you can see we have a Navy Family
