Albert J. Newsom and Muriel Hale, Clyde Patrick Blazer

In researching Albert J. Newsom and his wife, Muriel Hale, I did find according to the 1910 census for Oregon > Multnomah > Portland Ward 8 > District 0192 > 14 that she was widowed at age 23 by 1910 consistent with the Ancestry.com account on a family tree and the New Family Search documentation that her husband had died in 1909, quite an early age, at age 25.

However, the 1910 census lists her as widowed, but shows that she had one child in column ten of the census as "mother of how many children", but that the baby was deceased by the time of the census in column  11 where it lists the "number now living."

She did remarry in Caldwell, Canyon, Idaho on 21 November 1914, to a Clyde Patrick Blazer, however I don't have an original copy of the marriage certificate.

According to Ancestry: "This record can be found in the marriage book at the County Courthouse located in Canyon Co., ID in Volume 7 on Page 442."

The Oregon Death Index shows that Clyde died 20 May 1956 in Clackamas, Oregon, and at the time of death his spouse is listed as Muriel.

I am unable to locate any children born to Clyde and Muriel at this time.

Wallings and Newsom(e)s in Oregon

Apparently, Mary Walling - daughter of Bethair Trask Walling and Jeptha Walling has been a mystery as to her marriage for quite some time now.

I was able to find two censuses, one in 1910 and one in 1900 for Mary Walling and her husband William Everett Newsom.

It began with a marriage in the Multnomah County Marriage Archives found here http://www.gfo.org/m1875/m1875_14.htm as being married in 1882 and recorded in the 1882 records for volume 4 page 271.

1882 was congruent with Mary's age as being married at age 20, however the name listed was only as W E Newsom.   Later, I found a "Will" being listed as the spouse to Mary Walling in the Oregon death records when she died on 18 April 1937 which gave me a clue as to his first name.

Later a search for a Will Newsom and a Mary and their info in Ancestry turned up two censuses mentioned above, in Portland, Multnomah, Oregon - I was able to safely conclude that this was the correct Mary Walling of the Trask descendants through the following:

It listed Mary's mother (Bethair Trask) on both censuses as being born in Massachusetts and her Father (Jeptha) in Illinois.

According to the records I've seen, Bethair was born in Oregon - but her father was from Massachusetts - often in family history the locations of births depending on who answered the door for the censuses sometimes get confused with a more prominent family member such as the Trasks - who did start in Massachusetts and Jeptha was in fact born in Illinois.   Was it any other way I wouldn't think that was a safe conclusion to make, however, the censuses were also consistent - so this was, I felt, a safe conclusion to make in this instance.
